Jim Boyle

Edenderry, Co. Offaly, Eire
Jim Boyle was born in Edenderry in county Offaly. Jim was the eldest of eleven children and had ten brothers and two sisters. Jim was the only son in the Boyle family that finished secondary school and he even put himself through college. in the year 1960 Jim attended Trinity college in Dublin to study engineering this was the start of a very prosperous career for Jim. After completing his studies in Trinity, Jim went on to work as a civil engineer in Dublin and then in Barcelona, Spain . He spent nearly seven years in Spain where he became fluent in Spanish. Jim returned to Ireland in 1980 to work in Dublin. Soon after starting work in Dublin Jim moved back to Offaly and started his own business called Boyle Engineering. Boyle engineering was started solely by Jim and is still around today. Today Boyle engineering employs over twenty people and is recognised as an established company in its area. Jim did not marry as early as some of his brothers and sisters and met his future wife Joanne through work on a site in Dublin. Jim and Joanne married in 1991 and had three children, Patrick, Eoghan and Niamh. Joanne and Jim spent the rest of their days happily married in Edenderry where Jim spent his childhood. Jim died peacefully at home on the 4th of May 2022
Jim Boyle loved many things like maths, brain games, and Irish history but the thing he enjoyed the most was music, he loved all types of music but he had a soft spot in his heart for Irish folk music Jim had countless CD’s and cassette tapes that he saved over the years and he went to see Christy Moore in concert a record nine times throughout his lifetime. One thing Jim often said was. “Do something you love and you’ll never work a day in your life.
